Brothers charged in Franklin Township shooting

Two brothers from Butler have been charged with shooting an occupied car outside of their mother’s home in Franklin Township last week.

Jerry B. Bodish Jr., 22, and Anthony Bodish Jr., 18, were charged with felonies aggravated assault and conspiracy to commit robbery, and misdemeanors terroristic threats, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person following the July 29 incident, and they were placed in county jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.

According to an affidavit filed by state police, Zelienople police called state police just after 5 a.m. July 30 and said the alleged male victim came to the Zelienople police station and reported the incident.

Troopers went to the station and talked to the man, who told them the Bodishes shot his car while he was inside visiting a friend, Ashley Thomas, who is the Bodishes’ mother, at her home on Youkers Road in Franklin Township. Police said they saw several bullet holes in the rear of his car.

The man was then interviewed at the state police barracks, where he reported that he had arrived at Thomas’ house just before 11 p.m. July 29 after she invited him, police said.

He said Thomas entered the car and sat in the front passenger seat. After talking for about 10 minutes, the man said Anthony Bodish punched him in the face through the open front window, police said.

The man told police Thomas exited the car while he was trying to defend himself. He said he then put the car in reverse and backed down the driveway. Both Bodishes then approached the car while carrying long guns, he said. Anthony Bodish approached the driver’s side window and Jerry Bodish approached the front passenger side, and both pointed their rifles at the man’s face, he told police.

After turning his car around in the driveway, the man said he heard several gunshots and his car was hit several times, he told police.

Police said they interviewed the Bodishes on July 30. Jerry Bodish told police he and his mother decided to invite the man over to rob him of drugs, and that he would take the drugs from the man upon his arrival, police said.

He said his mother told Anthony Bodish about the plan, and he agreed to act as a lookout, police said.

Jerry Bodish told police he tried to get drugs from the man, but he refused to give him any and asked to see Thomas, police said. A short time later, Jerry Bodish said he saw Anthony Bodish shoot at the man’s car, police said.

Anthony Bodish told police he knew the man was coming to the home and Jerry Bodish was going to rob him of drugs when he arrived, police said. He said Jerry Bodish and his mother asked him to serve as a lookout while Jerry Bodish stole the drugs, police said.

Police said Anthony Bodish told them he was acting as a lookout when he saw Jerry Bodish and his mother approach the man, and then he approached and punched the alleged victim multiple times through the open window.

Anthony Bodish said he fired a shot at the car and Jerry Bodish fired two shots from a shotgun after their mother got out.
