Liza Minnelli finally decides to release tell-all memoir

Liza Minnelli

Despite decades of saying her life story should be told after she died, Liza Minnelli will finally release an autobiography.

The legendary stage and screen star announced Tuesday that her yet-to-be-titled memoir will be released in the spring of 2026 through Grand Central Publishing.

“‘Tell [my story] when I’m gone!’ was my philosophy,” Minnelli said in a statement. “So, why did I change my mind? A sabotaged appearance at the Oscars in front of billions of people … a film with twisted half-truths … a recent miniseries that just didn’t get it right. All made by people who didn’t know my family and don’t really know me.”

“Finally, I was mad as hell!” she continued. “Over dinner one night, I decided, it’s my own damn story … I’m gonna share it with you because of all the love you’ve given me.”

Known for acclaimed roles both big and small, the 78-year-old daughter of Judy Garland and director Vincent Minnelli is a showbiz survivor whose life has been on display since she was a child.

“From the moment she was born, people have been telling Liza’s story. She is now, after a life of many dizzying triumphs and some terrifying lows, finally ready to tell it herself,” said Grand Central’s Senior VP and Editor-in-Chief Colin Dickerman.

Described as a “historically significant book about the greatest entertainment family of the 20th and now 21st century,” the upcoming memoir will offer an intimate look into Minnelli’s life from her early years to her rise to stardom.

It will also detail her high-profile and often rocky relationships, as well as her struggles with substance abuse.

Minnelli was recently portrayed by Broadway ingénue Krysta Rodriguez in the Emmy winning Netflix limited series “Halston,” based on the life of the famed fashion designer and Minnelli’s close friend.

The “Cabaret” star was also the subject of Bruce David Klein’s documentary“Liza: A Truly Terrific Absolutely True Story,” which premiered at the 2024 Tribeca Festival in June.

Minnelli made a surprise appearance at the 94th Academy Awards in 2022, where she was sent onstage in a wheelchair against her objections.

Her longtime friend and memoir co-author Michael Feinstein later described the move as “sabotage”— one that forced her to be seen by millions of people in a way she did not want to be seen.

Suga

Suga of K-pop sensation BTS fined for driving while drunk. What he was driving causes confusion

SEOUL — Suga, a member of K-pop sensation BTS, apologized Wednesday for driving an electric vehicle while intoxicated.

His label, Big Hit Music, said Min Yoon-gi, famously known as Suga, was driving an “electric kickboard” Tuesday night when he fell while parking it. A police officer spotted him and administered a Breathalyzer test which Suga failed, leading to his license being revoked and a fine, the label added.

An electric kickboard refers to a type of vehicle without a seat. However, police told local media Suga’s vehicle had a seat and resembled an electric scooter under traffic law. The type of vehicle affects the penalty for drunken driving.

Yongsan Police Station in Seoul reportedly booked him for violating the Road Traffic Act. It's currently unclear whether the police have begun the investigation process. Multiple calls to the station’s spokesperson went unanswered.

The K-pop star issued an apology on Weverse, an online fan platform, saying he was driving after consuming alcohol at dinner.

“I come to you with a very heavy heart and deep apologies for disappointing you with this regrettable incident,” Suga wrote on Weverse. “I thought complacently that it was a short distance, not realizing I was not allowed to ride the electric scooter while intoxicated, breaking the road traffic act.”

Suga has been doing his mandatory military service as a social service agent since September 2023. Such agents typically work regular work hours and are allowed to return home after work hours.

Big Hit Music, his label, also apologized, stating: “He will accept any disciplinary measures from the place of duty regarding actions that caused social controversy as a social service worker.”

According to the spokesperson from the Military Manpower Administration, the incident will not impact his current status as an agent since it happened outside of official working hours.

In South Korea, all able-bodied men must serve in the army, navy or air force for 18-21 months under a conscription system established due to threats from rival North Korea.

Individuals with certain physical or mental conditions may instead serve for 21 months at nonmilitary institutions such as welfare centers, community service centers and post offices.

Justin Timberlake

DWI report details Justin Timberlake’s failed sobriety tests before arrest

NEW YORK — Prior to his June arrest for driving while intoxicated in the Hamptons, Justin Timberlake both refused and failed multiple field sobriety tests, according to police documents obtained by multiple outlets on Tuesday.

After he was pulled over in Sag Harbor for blowing through a stop sign in the early hours of June 18, the pop star verbally refused rookie cop Michael Arkinson’s three attempts to administer a Breathalyzer test.

Arkinson noted in the documents that Timberlake was unsteady, smelled like alcohol and had slowed speech, glassy eyes and trouble paying attention.

During a walk-and-turn test, Timberlake was “very unbalanced,” did not follow directions and turned the wrong way, according to the report.

In another test, Timberlake was unable to raise one foot for 30 seconds without moving. He failed to keep his balance and put his foot down before the 30 seconds had passed.

Arkinson then decided to arrest Timberlake and took him into custody.

Timberlake told police he “had one martini” at the American Hotel, where he had been hanging out with friends, according to court records. The bartender at the hotel confirmed they only served Timberlake a single drink.

Timberlake’s attorney, Edward Burke, has repeatedly claimed his client was not intoxicated and that police failed to evaluate the people who were with the singer.

“The police made a number of very significant errors in this case,” Burke said during a July court hearing.

Timberlake was rearraigned last Friday on the DWI charge. He appeared virtually and pleaded not guilty.

Judge Carl Irace suspended his Tennessee driver’s license and scheduled another hearing for this Friday. Timberlake, who is currently in Europe on his world tour, will not be required to attend.
