Richard William Ayers, 67, of Slippery Rock, passed away at Orchard Manor in Grove City on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2024, following a short illness.

He was born in New Brighton, Beaver County, on May 28, 1957, to Robert Richard Ayers and Sue Inez Campbell Ayers. He married Susan Gail Kubler on Dec. 27, 1980. He loved truck driving and over the past 34 years had driven in 48 states, most recently for Elite Express. He was awarded the “one million miles safety award” which he was most proud of. He was a driving instructor and a confidant to his fellow peers.

Rick graduated from Hopewell High School in 1975. He most enjoyed spending time with his family. He also enjoyed cooking and watching the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was a member of Cornerstone Community Church in New Castle.

Survivors include his wife, Susan, at home; daughter, Amanda G. Ayers of Coraopolis; son, Brent T. (Ashley) Ayers of Mt. Lebanon; sister, Etta (Charles) Casalnova of Mars; and two grandchildren, Vince Williams and Dominic Ayers.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

AYERS — A memorial service for Richard William Ayers, who died Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2024, will be observed at 11 a.m. Saturday at Cornerstone Community Church, 2617 New Butler Road, New Castle, with Pastor Joe Lahr presiding.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Jumonville Christian Camp and Retreat Center, 887 Jumonville Road, Hopwood, PA 15445.

Arrangements are being conducted by SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.
