Butler woman identified as Thursday fatal crash victim

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner has identified the Butler woman who died in a vehicle crash Thursday evening, Aug. 8, in Richland Township, Allegheny County.

According to the medical examiner, Patricia Everetts, 76, died at 6:42 p.m. Thursday at a hospital. The incident took place a little before 5:20 p.m., according to the medical examiner.

John Sicilia, the now-retired chief of the Northern Regional Police Department, said Friday the crash occurred when a motorist was stopped on Route 8 southbound attempting to turn left onto Applewood Drive. The vehicle was hit from behind by a pickup truck and was pushed into the northbound lane where it struck Everetts’ vehicle, killing her, Sicilia said.

The other two drivers had minor injuries from the crash, according to Sicilia.

Sicilia said the road was closed for several hours as police reconstructed the crash for the investigation. He said the crash was being investigated as of Friday morning.
