A 75-year-old Venango County man died and his 13-year-old female passenger was seriously injured in a two-vehicle accident Saturday in Sugarcreek, Venango County.

State police said Larry R. Rarer Sr. was driving a 1955 Chevrolet 210 west on Route 322 just before 4 p.m. when failed to slow down for a westbound pickup truck that had stopped ahead of him to let traffic clear to turn left on to Sugarcreek Drive, and rear ended the truck.

His young passenger suffered a suspected serious head injury and was flown by medical helicopter to UPMC Children’s Hospital, police said.

The pickup truck driver, Aaron J. Green, 37, of Franklin was not injured, police said.
