Interview with Elon Musk: Trump says he’ll return to Butler in October
Former President Donald Trump in an interview with Elon Musk on Monday evening, Aug. 12, said he has everything set up for a return trip to Butler County in October.
In a broadcast on Musk’s X, formerly known as Twitter, Trump said he wants to finish the speech he was making July 13 at a rally at the Butler Farm Show grounds before being shot at, which cut the rally short.
“We’re going back to Butler, and we’re going to go back in October, we’re all set up,” he said. “It’s a great area, these are incredible people.”
Cindy Hildebrand, chairwoman of the United Republicans of Butler County, said October would be the month that Trump returns to Butler County, but she does not know of a firm date or place.
Butler County Commissioner Leslie Osche said in a statement that although many residents would be excited to see Trump return to the area, the community at large may not have completely healed from the events that transpired during his last visit.
“While this county has overwhelmingly welcomed and supported former President Trump, a return visit will place additional stress on law enforcement and the community,” Osche said.
County Commissioner Kim Geyer also said she has not heard word of Trump returning to Butler County, although county officials are not responsible for planning such events.
Mike Walsh, chairman of the Butler County Airport Authority, said Tuesday he has not heard of any requests from the Trump campaign to have a rally at the airport. Ken Laughlin, president of the Butler Farm Show board of directors, also said Tuesday the farm show has not been contacted.
