Buffalo Township pedestrian hit by a vehicle, taken to hospital
A female pedestrian was transported to Allegheny General Hospital at 7:50 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, after being hit by a car on Shuster Drive in Buffalo Township.
Tim Derringer, Buffalo Township Police Department chief, said police arrested Gary Frain Jr., 45, of Freeport, in relation to the incident later Tuesday. Frain is facing four charges including felony aggravated assault by vehicle while DUI and felony accidents involving death or injury while not licensed.
Derringer said witnesses reported seeing Frain visibly intoxicated enough to be denied service at White Star Fraternal Society by the bartender. He then left in a hurry and got into his vehicle, a 2023 Ford F-150.
Derringer said Frain knew the person he hit with his truck, and she may have been attempting to stop him from driving that night. After striking the woman with his truck, Frain fled the scene, Derringer said.
Derringer said police then located Frain at his home in Freeport following the incident. He is being held in Butler County Prison; bail is set at $30,000.
