Westwood Manor woman performed weekly ‘story hour’
For a few minutes every Tuesday in the summer of 1970, the children of Westwood Manor would sit down in front of Mrs. Zinn and a story book for a short moment of quiet listening.
Zinn, a member of the Junior Woman’s Club, would read a book from the Traveling Library Bookmobile to the neighborhood children. The book was chosen by her 6-year-old son.
On Tuesday, Aug. 11, 1970, Zinn read three books: “Lyle the Crocodile,” “The Mitten” and “The King.” According to Zinn, the secret to keeping the children’s attention was by cutting the story hour into a shorter time span.
