High school golf roundup: Seneca Valley boys beats Pine-Richland in playoff; Mars wins

Seneca Valley boys golf beat Pine-Richland in a playoff Thursday at Treesdale Golf Course, needing a playoff to do so.

Anthony Cardosi led the Raiders with a 1-under 35, tied with PR’s Will Hilton for the best round of the day. Cardosi sank the par-5 third hole in two shots, according to the scorecard.

Seneca Valley (193): Anthony Cardosi 35, Josh Marquardt 36, Vinci Villella 38, Marcos Lopez 39, Brody Pirt 40

Pine-Richland (193): Will Hilton 35, Mike Pifer 36, remaining names incomplete

Mars 187, Hampton 199 — Colin Stevenson shot a 36 to pace the Planets in a win at Wildwood Golf Course. Matt Mueller shot a 37, while Will Campbell, Lukas Singh and Greg Kleber all had rounds of 38.

In District 10 Region 2 action at Tam O’Shanter Golf Course, Slippery Rock finished sixth out of seven teams with a total round of 373. Hickory won with a 319. Kolby Schooley shot SHRS’s lowest individual round with an 89, followed by Drake Kreutz (92), Isaac Rodgers (94) and Ryan Parson (98).

Hickory’s Grady Kapusta and Grove City’s Isaac Allan tied for the day’s lowest round, 76. The Rockets sit sixth in the region standings with four points.

Girls golf

North Allegheny 173, Butler 193 — Paige Ponteous led the Golden Tornado (1-3, 1-2 section) with a 37, tied for the lowest round Thursday at Diamond Run Golf Club alongside NA’s Kayli Dings. But the remaining three Tigers players all shot sub-50 rounds.

North Allegheny (173): Kayli Dings 37, Ava Azzanni 43, Amisa Shah 46, Kirsten Karlots 47

Butler (193): Paige Ponteous 37, Macie McLister 46, Madi Wolfe 54, Rylee Gage 56
