Spain to investigate unauthorized Katy Perry music video in a protected natural area

MADRID — In her new music video, Katy Perry pretends to be one of the thousands of tourists having the time of their lives on Spain's Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean. But some parts, filmed in a protected natural enclave, could get her into trouble.

The regional government is investigating the video for her latest song, “Lifetimes,” for the clips in which the 39-year-old American singer and songwriter appears jumping and running across dunes of the Ses Salines Natural Park, a protected area on the islands of Ibiza and Formentera, apparently without permission.

The images taken on the dunes of the private islet of S’Espalmador, “one of the most ecologically valuable sites on the islands” and in an area cordoned off from the public with sticks and ropes, sparked the controversy, according to local media.

The regional authorities have opened “preliminary investigation proceedings,” according to a statement released Tuesday, after the production company failed to apply for the appropriate permits. The filming wouldn't have been an environmental offense, because this type of production can be authorized with a permit, the department of natural environment added.

The production company and Perry didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

The video, directed by Colombian American photographer and director Matías Vasquez, Stillz, shows Perry sailing, swimming or clubbing on the islands, one of the most popular and crowded tourist resorts in the Spanish Mediterranean, especially during the summer.

Perry's new album “143” will be released on Sept. 20.

Kehlani

Kehlani gets restraining order against allegedly abusive ex

Kehlani has gotten a restraining order against ex Javaughn Young-White, whom the singer accused of physical, emotional and verbal abuse.

The 29-year-old Grammy nominee, who uses she/they pronouns, was granted a temporary restraining order as well as temporary sole custody of the former couple’s 5-year-old daughter, Adeya, according to new legal documents obtained by TMZ.

Pending a hearing next month, guitarist Young-White, 27, must stay at least 100 yards from both the “I Like Dat” singer and their little girl.

Kehlani, born Kehlani Ashley Parrish, claimed that Young-White was living in her back house and regularly getting high — on marijuana and mushrooms — in June, when he allegedly broke into her locked bedroom, calling her names and a “liar” and blaming her for having “trapped” him with the birth of their daughter.

The alleged incident occurred after Kehlani said she asked Young-White about a letter he’d received regarding public assistance, and she promptly kicked him out.

Kehlani said Adeya would smell of marijuana after spending time with her dad in the back house, which her mom said was full of “weed, food, trash,” TMZ reported. Kehlani also accused Young-White of sometimes being high in front of their daughter, during which he allegedly rants about religion. Sometimes, when Young-White picks up Adeya from school, Kehlani said they’re unaware where the pair go together.

News of the TRO comes on the heels of Young-White filing for full custody of Adeya on July 24 — and reported Aug. 5 — at which point he claimed Kehlani is part of a cult and raising Adeya in the group as well.

Just last week, Young-White walked back the “hurtful” and “careless” allegations against the Afro-Caribbean religion Kehlani previously practiced. Young-White noted at the time the custody petition had been “filed with choice language I didn’t OK.”

“I never said that I think Santeria is a sex cult,” Young-White said in his statement. “Nor did I say that my daughter is in a sex cult. That’s factually incorrect.”

Kehlani denied “any claims that I have put my child in harm’s way, or left my child alone with anyone deemed dangerous or unsafe.”

Kylie Jenner

Kylie Jenner changed son’s name twice while battling postpartum depression

Kylie Jenner has opened up once again about battling postpartum depression, which she says played a major role in changing her son’s name twice before ultimately settling on Aire.

In the September issue of British Vogue, the 27-year-old makeup mogul reveals that while her fans already know she changed her son’s name once, she actually did it again — and “felt like such a failure” for taking a year to make the choice.

“My son’s name was actually Knight for a long time,” she said of now-2-year-old Aire, who was originally named Wolf. “My daughter, still to this day, is like, ‘Do you remember when Aire’s name was Knight? … I like Knight better.'”

Jenner shares both Aire and daughter Stormi, 6, and with ex-boyfriend rapper Travis Scott.

Of the back and forth on her son’s name, Jenner said the “major baby blues” she suffered attributed to her inability to make a decision.

“With my son … I was just so emotional over things that I probably wouldn’t be that emotional about [typically],” she recalled. “On the phone with my mom all day hysterically crying, saying, ‘I can’t figure out his name.’”

“I felt like such a failure that I couldn’t name him,” Jenner continued. “He deserved so much more than that. It just really triggered me.”

In March 2022, a month after welcoming the little boy, Jenner announced he was no longer named Wolf, though she didn’t immediately say what he would be called going forward.

It wasn’t until June of 2023, 16 months after his birth, that Jenner revealed her son’s name had been legally changed to Aire.

“Now my advice to all my friends having children is pick the name before,” she concluded. “Because when the hormones hit you can’t make decisions. You can’t.”
