GetGo locations sold to Canadian company
Local food market retailer Giant Eagle has announced that it has agreed to sell all of its GetGo convenience stores to Canada-based Couche-Tard.
Couche-Tard, a multinational operator of convenience stores and gas stations, will take over the roughly 270 GetGo locations, adding to its already existing fleet of 16,700 convenience stores around the world.
According to Giant Eagle, the sale will help the company focus resources to enhance and grow their supermarket and pharmacy businesses.
The release states Couche-Tard intends to keep all dedicated GetGo stores, operations and support team members as part of the sale.
GetGos employs about 3,500 people in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Maryland and Indiana.
The sale is expected to close in 2025, Giant Eagle said, and is subject to Federal Trade Commission approval.
