Sentence court

The following people were sentenced Thursday, Aug. 15 by Butler County Common Pleas Judge Joseph Kubit.

Charles J. Young Jr., 42, of Sacramento, Calif., was sentenced to serve 15 to 60 months in state prison and pay a $300 fine after pleading guilty to possession of a controlled substance filed by state police following a Nov. 1 incident in Butler.

Harley D. Helzer, 25, of Butler, was sentenced to serve 11 months and 29 days to 23 months and 28 days in the county prison, followed by 36 months of probation, after pleading guilty to aggravated assault of a victim less than 6 years old and endangering the welfare of children filed by Butler City police following a Nov. 6 incident. He is eligible to be paroled to serve five months of house arrest after serving 10 months in jail.

Todd J. Curtin, 48, of Evans City, was sentenced to serve nine to 23 months and 15 days in the county prison, followed by 12 months of probation, but was immediately paroled, and pay a $500 fine after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor corruption of minors charge filed by Cranberry Township police following an Oct. 8 incident.

Rickey B. Cohen, 52, of Butler, was sentenced to serve 12 months of probation and pay $9.98 in restitution to Walmart after pleading guilty to a retail theft charge filed by Butler Township police following an Oct. 2 incident.

Bradley J. Bales, 38, of New Galilee, was sentenced to serve 12 months of probation, complete 30 hours of community service and pay a $150 fine after pleading guilty to a charge of possession of a controlled substance filed by state police following an Oct. 3 incident in Muddy Creek Township.
