Police reports
The following items have been collected from various police departments and district courts:
July 28 — Philip P. Heupel, 38, of Butler, was charged with misdemeanor counts of simple assault, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct related to a July 28 incident on North Monroe Street. Police said they were waved down by a man who Heupel had punched in the face. Police said a woman claimed Heupel had groped her. Police said they arrested Heupel who argued with them and repeatedly pushed and pulled away from officers.
July 27 — Angela M. Crawford, 38, of Butler, was charged with misdemeanor simple assault related to a July 27 domestic incident on Standard Avenue. Police said Crawford hit her boyfriend over the head with her hands, causing injury to his head and hand.
July 26 — Bonnie L. King, 59, of Sharon, was charged with misdemeanor DUI related to a July 25 vehicle crash on East Locust Street. Police said they found empty beer cans on the passenger floor. Police said King refused field sobriety testing. Police noted King was convicted of DUIs in 2018 and 2023.
July 26 — Brittany N. Powers, 28, of Slippery Rock, was charged with misdemeanor counts of drug and paraphernalia possession related to a July 22 dispatch to a suspected overdose on West North Street. While investigating the overdose of someone else, police arrested Powers for an active warrant, during which they found crack cocaine, marijuana and glass pipes in her purse.
July 25 — Josiah D. Scharding, 31, of Butler, was charged with two misdemeanor counts of simple assault related to a July 24 domestic incident on East Locust Street. Police said Scharding dragged a woman from a house by the neck and hair, before holding a machete to her neck. Police said the woman had injuries to her neck.
July 22 — Joseph-James H. Raab, 28, of Butler, was charged with felony DUI related to a July 14 vehicle crash at the intersection of Brown and Center avenues. Police said field sobriety tests showed Raab was impaired, but Raab later refused further testing at the state police barracks.
July 19 — Roger T. Waltenbaugh, 39, of Butler, was charged with misdemeanor simple assault related to a July 19 domestic incident on East Patterson Avenue. Police said Waltenbaugh slammed his ex-wife into a storm door, causing injury to her back.
July 11 — Jennifer L. Barney, 49, of Butler, was charged with misdemeanor retail theft related to a March 21 investigation at Walmart. Police said Barney stole vitamins with a total value of $234.
July 11 — Walter S. Kradel, 43, and Heather A. Kuhrt, 40, both of Butler, were charged related to a July 1 investigation at Dick’s Sporting Goods. Kradel was charged with misdemeanor counts of retail theft, conspiracy, possessing criminal instruments, criminal mischief and possessing drug paraphernalia. Kuhrt was charged with misdemeanor counts of retail theft and criminal conspiracy. Police said the pair tried to wear stolen clothing items out of the store but were caught in the changing room. Police said the items’ total value was $1,280.
July 11 — Dylan L. Mamula, 22, of Butler, was charged with two misdemeanor counts of DUI related to a May 20 traffic stop on Route 3007. Police said field sobriety tests showed Mamula was impaired, and a later blood test showed his blood alcohol content at .161%. In Pennsylvania, .08% is the legal limit.
July 14 — Police responded to a vehicle crash on Route 422 in a construction area. Police said Amanda Stellfox, 20, of Butler, lost control of her vehicle and crashed into a barrier. She was uninjured, but the vehicle needed towed from the scene.
July 29 — Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Route 8. Police said Raymond H. Lipke, 28, of Butler, hit a vehicle pulled onto the side of the road. Police said Lipke was injured and taken to the hospital. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
