Technology issue stopping county 911 from texting dispatches

A technology issue that occurred Wednesday with the county 911 dispatch center’s internet provider is preventing 911 from texting emergency dispatches, which is requiring fire and emergency medical service personnel to use pagers instead of cellphones to receive the dispatches.

Emergency services director Steve Bicehouse said the issue is affecting texts sent to fire and EMS, but not texts sent to police. He said the vendor has been notified about the problem and is working to fix it.

Residents who receive the texts won’t receive texts and won’t be able to send texts to the 911 center until the problem is resolved.
