More than 1,400 students settled into their dorms at Slippery Rock University’s campus on Thursday, Aug. 22.

Hundreds of volunteers helped coordinate the effort and carry students’ belongings into their rooms as the first-year and transfer students unpacked their belongings and set up their new spaces for the upcoming semester during the university’s move-in day.

The day marked the beginning of SRU’s Week of Welcome, a series of events created to acclimate first-year students to college life.

Returning students move in Sunday, and fall semester classes begin Monday.

Also in Butler County, Butler County Community College classes are set to begin on Monday.
