BC3 approves contract with maintenance, shipping and custodial workers

Trustees of the Butler County Community College unanimously approved a two-year collective bargaining agreement for 17 maintenance, shipping and receiving services, and custodial employees at a meeting Wednesday, Aug. 22.

Negotiators for the college and the three groups met four times from May 16 to July 18, with employees agreeing to the contract on Aug. 6.

According to the college, the contract includes 3% increases to base salaries in both years of the agreement for current full-time employees and 3% increases to hourly rates in both years of the agreement for current part-time employees.

Additionally, the contract offers a starting hourly rate of $24.45 for new full-time maintenance employees, starting hourly rate of $20.03 for new full-time employees in shipping and receiving services, and in custodial, of $15.92.

The college noted that there are no part-time maintenance employees.

The contract also includes discretionary summer holidays and an $8,000 retirement incentive for all full-time employees from Jan. 1, 2025 to June 30, 2025.

All employees will also receive a one-time $500 payment that represents “the efficient and timely manner in which negotiations reached a resolution,” the motion read.

The contract is retroactive to July 1 and expires June 30, 2026.
