Mars will have to wait about 14 more hours for its season to begin. Friday night’s game in Orlando, Fla., against Boone High was postponed to 9:30 a.m. Saturday due to weather, according to the team’s social media account.

Lightning delayed the start of the game at 7 p.m., and at 8 p.m. the team posted on social media the game was postponed.

Freeport 30, Indiana 7 — The Yellowjackets’ Amos Glenn ran rampant in a road win over the Little Indians, going for 157 yards and a score on 23 totes. Freeport racked up 280 rushing yards as Owen Neistein also punched it in.

Redbank Valley 49, Union/A-C Valley 13 — Owen Bish’s 1-yard surge followed the Bulldogs’ pair of touchdowns to open the contest, but the Falcon Knights trailed by 14 at the midway point.

Redbank Valley’s Austin Eastlick made it a 28-7 game 4:48 into the third frame, putting the visitors away.

Fairview 35, Slippery Rock 0 — The Rockets fell behind 28-0 by halftime and trailed 35-0 early in the third quarter. The mercy clock was invoked at that point.

“We played them pretty evenly from there,” Rockets coach Larry Wendereusz said over the phone. “Basically, we have to play more physical. Our defense had trouble getting off the field tonight.”

The Rockets drove to the Fairview 1-yard line in the second half but could not score.

“We have to run down-hill a lot better,” Wendereusz said. “We’ve got a lot of young kids on this team. We’ll get better.”
