Jade’s Dog Park, located within Alameda Park in Butler, is undergoing extensive sanitizing after a reported exposure of canine parvovirus from an infected dog that visited the park.

“The claim did not confirm the dog was in contact with anyone or went to the restroom. However, the risk is still there,” reads a post from the dog park on its Facebook page. “Please treat everyone with kindness. This was not intentional. Everyone loves their pets and wants them to be safe.”

Canine parvovirus is typically spread through the feces of dogs which were previously infected. It can be transmitted by direct contact between dogs or by contact with contaminated objects. Symptoms include vomiting, diarrhea, and loss of appetite.

Vaccines are available to guard against parvovirus.
