Thanks for the assist

As members of the community who try to assist our neighbors and veterans, the American Legion and the Sons of the American Legion always can use an assist. That recently happened on a Friday a couple of weeks ago.

On behalf of the members of the American Legion Post 778 and our local community, I’d like to thank crews from five Home Depot stores and the Home Depot Foundation for the time, talent and funding they provided to upgrade our concession stand and the outside bathrooms at our post.

With the Team Depot crew — led by Lisa Naughton and Brian McLaughlin — we were able to get a fresh coat of paint, new landscaping and lighting, and upgraded security. In doing so, we became Americans with Disabilities Act compliant.

The Home Depot Foundation always is trying to support community veterans, and this time, not only did they provide the materials we needed, they also provided the hands and backs to do the work.

Lisa, Brian and Team Depot were able to accomplish the list of upgrades, and additional materials were brought in to enhance the project and get it all done before the rain came.

Our thanks to Team Depot is a small thing to say, but it’s sincerely felt. The post can continue to provide a beautiful, safe place for events thanks to your assistance.

Jack Hutchinson, Adjutant, Sons of the American Legion, Post 778
