Thomas R. Sherman, 79, of Butler, passed away on Friday, Aug. 23, 2024. He was born in Butler on Nov. 1, 1944, and was the son to the late Otto Davis and Rita (Gerstner) Sherman.

Thomas graduated from Butler High School in 1963 and earned his associate degree in business; he was employed at Armco Steel for 36 years until his retirement. He was known for being a great husband and father and being very hardworking. He enjoyed volunteering and being involved at his church, where he did things such as altar service and operating the camera. Thomas enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing, playing bocce and metal detecting. He also was part of singing groups such as ACTS and was a member of All Saints Parish - St. Paul Roman Catholic Church.

Thomas was the beloved husband of Donna (Cervelli) Sherman since their marriage in 1975; father of Thomas Sherman; and brother of James (Peggy) Sherman and Ellen (Willie) Wehr.

In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by his siblings, Dave Sherman, Stephen Sherman, Marjorie Sherman, Mary Everett-Whitesell and an infant brother.

SHERMAN — Family and friends of Thomas R. Sherman, who died Friday, Aug. 23, 2024, will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 New Castle, Butler.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at All Saints Parish – St. Paul Roman Catholic Church.

Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Butler.
