Helen Marie Barto, 71, of Evans City, passed away on Friday, Aug. 23, 2024.

Born on June 16, 1953, in Ellwood City, she was the daughter of the late Robert H. and Agnes M. (Hoffmann) Watson.

Helen was a lifetime member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Evans City. After 35 years of employment, she retired from the U.S. Postal Service. She was a proud and passionate member of the Penn State Master Gardeners of Butler County, former Sunday school teacher, founder of the St. Peter’s Manna Night ministry and Angel Tree to support Glade Run Lutheran Services, member of church council and the St. Peter’s endowment committee, past president of the Butler County Rural Letter Carriers Association, and former member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Helen leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband, Paul “Butch” Barto Jr., whom she married on April 21, 1972; her children, Paul J. “P.J.” Barto III (Kelly) of Harmony, Christina Dwyer (John) of Waterloo, Mont., and Catherine Kistler (John) of Pittsburgh; her grandchildren, Madalyn, Hazin, Maisie and Nora; her brothers, Dennis Watson (Joan) of West View and Robert Watson (Mary) of Harmony; nieces and nephews; and her companion dog, Bocephus.

BARTO — Friends and family of Helen Marie Barto, who died Friday, Aug. 23, 2024, will be received from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, 2024, at BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, 116 E. Main St., Evans City.

A funeral service will follow visitation at 1 p.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 202 Van Buren St., Evans City, PA 16033.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Helen’s honor to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.

Helen will be laid to rest at Evans City Cemetery.
