RFK Jr. tells Tucker Carlson he’s been asked to join Trump transition team

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. says he’s been asked to help former President Donald Trump pick officials for a potential second term.

The former presidential candidate turned Trump ally told conservative pundit Tucker Carlson he expects to participate in a Trump transition team if the Republican candidate wins in November.

“I’ve been asked to go onto the transition team to help pick the people who will be running the government,” RFK Jr. told Carlson in what they touted as his first full-fledged interview since he suspended his campaign and endorsed Trump on Friday.

He shrugged off the possibility Trump may lose to Democratic nominee Kamala Harris.

“I don’t know what will happen if we lose,” Kennedy said.

Kennedy said he would consider a Trump cabinet appointment but believes he would not pass Senate confirmation.

Trump says he wants to work with RFK Jr. but has steered clear of offering specifics. He has also said former progressive Rep. Tulsi Gabbard may also join the transition team after she formally endorsed him.

Trump, who trails Harris in most polls , had already tapped two of his biggest donors, Linda McMahon and Howard Lutnick, to be the co-chairs of a potential 2024 transition team.

The Trump campaign hopes RFK Jr.’s supporters will move en masse into his political column after the endorsement, although most analysts say that’s unlikely . Pundits believe his backers, estimated at about 4% in the latest polls, will either splinter between Trump and Harris or won’t vote at all.

The Trump transition team claim surfaced as an environmentalist group said Kennedy should face investigation for a 2012 incident in which he supposedly cut the head off a dead whale he found on a Massachusetts beach.

RFK Jr. strapped the severed whale head to his family car and drove it back to their then-home in Westchester County, his daughter Kick recounted in an interview with Town & Country magazine .

The Center for Biological Diversity Action Fund on Monday asked the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to open an probe into whether Kennedy violated the Marine Mammal Protection Act and the Endangered Species Act. The acts prohibit possession of any part of an animal, dead or alive, that is protected under either statute, as are most Atlantic whales.

RFK has not commented on the bizarre whale story and officials have not responded to the call for an investigation. He has admitted using a road-kill bear cub to stage a fake 2014 bicycle crash in Central Park.
