Tuesday designated a Code Orange air quality day in Butler County
The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh has issued a Code Orange Air Quality Action Day for Tuesday, Aug. 27, for the southwestern area of Pennsylvania, which includes Butler County.
Ozone concentrations will rapidly build into the Code Orange range Tuesday afternoon, with abundant sunshine and temperatures in the lower to middle 90s, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection said.
Senior citizens, children and people with compromised immune systems are at particular risk for symptoms like headaches, irritated eyes, fatigue, chest pains and coughing.
