The South Butler Community Library in Saxonburg is offering residents the chance to greet their newest and cuddliest police officer, a German shepherd named Bolt.

Bolt, who was sworn in to the police force last month, will be introduced to the public at the library on Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 28 and 29, at 10:30 a.m. on both days, as part of National Dog Month.

Bolt is the first K-9 officer on the Saxonburg police force in more than a decade, and was transferred from the Middlesex Police Department. He is trained to sniff out narcotics.
