Task force requests new information on Trump rally shooting

As the bipartisan Task Force on the Attempted Assassination of Donald J. Trump continues its investigation, it has requested additional documents and transcribed interviews from the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Secret Service.

U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly, R-16th, chairman of the task force, and Ranking Member Jason Crow, D-Colo., wrote to DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and Ronald Rowe, Secret Service acting director, to request all transcripts from interviews conducted by the DHS and Secret Service related to the July 13 rally; a list of all relevant pending internal inquiries and reports within the DHS and Secret Service; documents related to the Secret Service’s intelligence advance process, documents related to the site selection process, security planning for outdoor events, communications planning, countersniper capabilities and countersurveillance capabilities; and all communications referring to or between the Secret Service and contractors, DHS employees, and state and local law enforcement.

“The task force is investigating all actions by any agency, department, officer, or employee of the federal government, as well as State and local law enforcement or any other State or local government or private entities or individuals, related to the attempted assassination of Donald J. Trump on July 13, 2024, in Butler, Pennsylvania,” Kelly and Crow write in the letter.

The letter also asks that Secret Service personnel, including the Local Field Office Special Agent in Charge, Local Field Office Site Agent for the July 13 rally, and the Lead Advance Agent be made available for transcribed interviews with the task force.

The deadline is Wednesday, Sept. 4.
