2 new businesses welcomed to Cranberry
CRANBERRY TWP — Supervisors approved two new conditional use business applications during a meeting Thursday evening, Aug. 29.
The first was Industry Coffee, a coffee shop based in Industry, Pa., which is expanding into both Moon Township and Cranberry Township. The Cranberry location will be in a strip mall on Commonwealth Drive.
Industry Coffee already signed a 10-year lease for the space, and the hearing was simply to give the business the right to use the space they already have.
A former bank, the building already contains facilities for a drive-through business.
This location will be drive-through only, with no indoor service. Co-owner Frank Bjalobok, who presented the plans for the coffee shop, says his company is trying to simplify the process of getting coffee.
Bjalobok said they want to simplify the coffee ordering process.
“You can still get whatever you want, but we want to focus on coffee, not food,” he said.
He added that Industry Coffee is looking to become a nationally recognized chain one day, and this will be their first drive-through location.
“Basically, we want people to be able to order at the drive-through window, order on our app, or order on our app for delivery through DoorDash,” Bjalobok said.
Supervisors also granted final land development and conditional use approval for the Learning Care Group to build a Children’s Courtyard branded day care facility on an open 1.69-acre plot of land on Freedom Road, next to a BP gas station and Subway.
The Learning Care Group, based in Novi, Mich., operates multiple chains of day care and early-learning centers, including The Children’s Courtyard, Tutor Time, Childtime and Everbrook Academy. According to their website, the closest location of any of these to Cranberry Township or Butler presently is a Tutor Time location on Baptist Road in Pittsburgh.
The new Children’s Courtyard building would be 10,281 square feet and be surrounded by 44 parking spaces, with two spaces meeting requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act, as well as a playground in the rear of the building.
Public hearings were held for each of the new businesses, but these were brief, with no one offering any objection.
