Renovations to begin on county register of wills office
Butler County Commissioners on Wednesday, Aug. 28 approved renovations to the Register of Wills and Domestic Relations office.
The improvements, which will include electrical, plumbing and HVAC work, rang in at more than $1.5 million, a higher price tag than initially anticipated, commissioners chairwoman Leslie Osche said.
She said prices have risen since the county received the initial project estimate, with the cost ultimately being about $500,000 more than the estimate. Osche said the additional $500,000 will be paid for using the county’s general fund.
The commissioners awarded the general construction contract to Massaro Corporation for $686,000; the electrical contract to Merit Electrical Group for $426,000; the plumbing contract to Renick Brothers for $67,191; and the HVAC contract to R & B Mechanical for $284,600.
Work on the project should begin in September, and is estimated to take about 25 weeks to complete.
The county’s domestic relations office has temporarily moved to the Butler County Courthouse’s first floor.
