A student of Summit Academy has been charged with simple assault and harassment in relation to an incident at the academy on Monday, Aug. 26.

Police said they responded to Summit Academy in Summit Township at around 11:55 a.m. Monday for reports that a student, Tyler Jeffery Dean, 18, of Butler, broke into another student’s room, grabbed him by the shirt and punched him in the face.

After being punched, the victim put Dean in a headlock and let him go after telling him to leave, according to police. Dean then “sucker punched” the victim in the face, busting his lip in a manner that required two stitches at a hospital, police said.

A preliminary hearing with District Judge Lewis E. Stoughton is scheduled Tuesday, Sept. 3.
