The Armstrong County coroner has confirmed the identity of a Butler woman killed in an vehicle crash on Route 422 in East Franklin Township on Thursday, Aug. 29.

The woman has been identified as Michelle D. Vanscoy, 45. According to the coroner’s office, Vanscoy died of multiple blunt force trauma.

The crash occurred shortly after 3:30 p.m. Thursday after her car was clipped in the rear by another vehicle, causing it to flip onto its roof. As a result, the state Department of Transportation closed Route 422 westbound between Worthington and Kittanning while state police conducted an investigation.

According to the coroner, toxicology tests are incomplete, and funeral arrangements for Vanscoy have yet to be made.
