Police reports

The following items were collected from various police departments.

State Police, Butler

Aug. 7 — Jesse G. Holmin, 28, of Chicora, was charged with misdemeanor DUI related to a March 2 vehicle crash on New Castle Road in Connoquenessing Township. Police said field sobriety tests showed Holmin was impaired, and a later breath test showed his blood alcohol content at .089%. In Pennsylvania, .08% is the legal limit.

Aug. 6 — Justin L. Herp, 46, of Butler, was charged with felony strangulation and misdemeanor simple assault related to a July 28 domestic incident on Bennett Drive. Police said Herp grabbed a woman by the neck, then shoved her down a set of stairs. Police said the woman suffered from injuries to her neck, jaw, right leg, right hand and left arm.

July 31 — Jarrod L. Shoaf, 42, of New Kensington, Westmoreland County, was charged with felony corruption of minors related to a June 10 investigation prompted by a ChildLine report. Police said Shoaf had sex with a woman in front of a minor.

July 31 — Jeremy D. Johnson, 42, of Gallatin, Tenn., was charged with felony counts of theft and criminal mischief related to a July 30 trespassing call at a cellphone tower on Beck Road in Summit Township. Police said they found Johnson hanging by a rope from the tower, and they discovered he was trying to steal about $4,000 worth of scrap metal. Police said the attempt also caused $6,000 worth of damage to the tower.

July 31 — Darius J. Davis, 27, of Parker, Armstrong County, was charged with four counts of DUI, one count of drug possession and one count of drug paraphernalia possession, all misdemeanors, related to a May 22 report of a person passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle at the intersection of Chicora and Oneida Valley roads in Summit Township. Police said field sobriety tests showed Davis was impaired, and a later blood test showed marijuana and multiple prescription medicines in his system.

July 31 — Police charged both sides of an alleged July 29 domestic assault on Chicora Road in Summit Township. Police said Devon J. Baptiste, 37, accused Brandi M. Schaas, 30, of slashing at him with a knife. Police said Baptiste claimed to run into the bathroom which Schaas broke down and began hitting him before fleeing on a bicycle. Police said Schaas accused Baptiste of jumping on her and hitting her. Police said she claimed she was the one who escaped to the bathroom. Police said Schaas claimed Baptiste was the one who broke down the door, and she fled on a bicycle. Police said Baptiste had scratches and bruising to his face and chest. Police said Schaas provided photos of her face, showing bruises and a bloodied lip. Schaas was charged with felony aggravated assault and misdemeanor simple assault

July 31 — Keith D. Bailey, 62, of Natrona Heights, Allegheny County, was charged with one felony and misdemeanor count of making a false statement related to an attempted gun purchase on Sept. 23, 2023, from Sportsman’s Supply in Summit Township. Police said Bailey failed to accurately disclose his criminal history.
