Man accused of using ex-wife’s money to pay bills

A Westmoreland County man has been charged with using his ex-wife’s checking account to pay more than $17,000 in credit card bills.

Cranberry Township police last week charged Timothy A. Delon, 60, with two counts of access device fraud and two counts of theft by deception, all felonies, for allegedly using the woman’s bank account in February.

Delon’s ex-wife, a Cranberry Township resident, told police her bank notified her about charges made to her checking account by a credit card company, and she discovered that Delon, her ex-husband, made the charges, according to an affidavit.

On Feb. 16, he used her account to make a $16,484 payment to his credit card and used the account to make an $834 payment on Feb. 28, according to the affidavit.

Delon told police he did not have access to her account information and would not use her account to make payments on his credit card, but it was an accident if it happened, according to an affidavit.

During the investigation, police discovered the ex-wife’s checking account information was saved into Delon’s credit card account as a payment method, according to the affidavit.
