Local resident Phil Lope was named the Zelienople Borough 2023 Volunteer of the Year Award for his dedicated work at Glade Run Lutheran Services, a nonprofit organization based in Western Pennsylvania.

Lope racked up more than 100 volunteer hours with the Adventures Program, which provides equine therapy to at-risk youth, children on the autism spectrum, and adults in addiction recovery.

Lope also recently accepted a position on the Glade Run Foundation board of directors.

The borough began the program in 2014 to honor those who make the lives of others easier and improve the quality of life for citizens in the borough and surrounding area.
