Robert ‘Bob’ Bonzo

Bonzo

Robert “Bob” Duane Bonzo, 86, of New Sewickley Township, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, Sept. 2, 2024 — just in time to celebrate his 87th birthday with his wife, Patricia Ann (Pflugh) Bonzo, in Heaven.

Born in New Sewickley Township on Sept. 3, 1937, Bob was the son of the late Audrey Duane Bonzo and Clara Belle (Cooper) Bonzo.

Bob was a lifelong resident of New Sewickley Township, where he lived on and helped farm two pieces of family property. Bob and his wife, Pat, were blessed with 64 years of marriage before she preceded him into the arms of their Savior in November 2023. Their life together reflected God’s unconditional, unfailing love.

Bob was an exceptionally talented mason who was known for his honest, reliable work ethic. He and his son, Todd, founded Robert D. Bonzo & Son Inc. and worked side by side building, repairing and improving families’ homes all over Beaver County. Bob never fully retired from construction; when he was no longer out on the scaffolding, he was out picking up materials at the lumberyard.

Age never quite caught up with Bob, he was always on the move, painting, planting, tinkering or digging in the dirt with his great-grandsons. He was a wonderfully caring and thoughtful man who loved his wife and their family beyond measure. Pat was his world, and his devotion to her was a living testament of 1 Corinthians 13 love.

Above all, Bob was a mighty man of God. His love for Jesus radiated throughout everything he did in life, drawing the Christian fish in the cement he poured, loving his wife and family selflessly, and sharing the message of salvation with anyone and everyone he met. He was a bricklayer by trade, but he will be remembered most for building up the faith in others.

Bob leaves behind to cherish his memory his children, Robert “Chris” Bonzo, Todd Bonzo and his wife, Joy, and Lynn Bonzo; his grandchildren, Hannah Grace George and her husband, David, Hunter Madison Teny and her husband, Andrew, and Cooper, Nathaniel, and Alissa; his great-grandchildren, Cohen, Jensen, Callie Grace and Jase; his sister, Faye Ridenour; his sisters-in-law, Patricia Bonzo and Elaine Bonzo; and several nephews and nieces.

In addition to his parents and beloved wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Richard Duane Bonzo; and his brothers, Terry Bonzo and Ronald “Pete” Bonzo.

BONZO — Friends of Robert “Bob” Duane Bonzo, who died Monday, Sept. 2, 2024, will be received from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday at BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.

Additional visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the celebration of life service at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

He will be laid to rest at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
