Richard Weleski

Weleski

Richard F. Weleski, 80, of Cabot, died Thursday, Sept. 5, 2024, at his home with his loving family by his side.

He was born April 15, 1944, in Winfield Township, the son of the late Martin Sr. and Anna Blascheck Weleski.

Rich was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cabot since birth. He was one of the original founders of the famous Fall Festival chicken dinners held in September at St. Joseph Church.

He was part owner and weighmaster at the family business, Winfield Lime and Stone Co. Inc., from 1962 until the plant closed in November 2011. He loved spending time with his dear wife, daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed working in his yard and loved watching sports, especially the Steelers and Pitt basketball and football. Not Penn State!

Rich was a 1962 graduate of Knoch High School. He was a varsity basketball player from 1959 to 1962. He was a co-captain and starting point guard on the Knoch High School basketball team in 1961 to 1962, one of the top basketball teams in school history. He also continued playing basketball and softball in various leagues and tournaments after he graduated.

Surviving are his loving wife, Diana (Cooper) Weleski, whom he married April 20, 1968; his two loving daughters, Kamara (Frank) Farester of Ford City and Viki Nulph of Cabot; his dearly loved grandchildren, Kaitlin (Levi) Goheen of Sarver and Andrew Olczak of Cabot; his great-grandson, Weston Goheen, and one great-granddaughter, Olivia Goheen of Sarver; and his brother, Robert (Kathy) Weleski of Cabot.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his brothers, Ed, Martin Jr., Raymond and Charles; his sisters, Anna Margaret Boldy, Helen Sepich, Dorothy Rockar and Lucille Green; and his little Yorkies, Angel and Damian. Damian and his paw print will go with Rich.
