WASHINGTON TWP — All occupants escaped injury after a two-car crash on Sunday morning, Sept. 8, which led to a pickup truck ending up on its side and leaning against a detached garage on Oneida Valley Road.

The incident was first called in shortly after 9 a.m. Sunday, and occurred near the North Washington Rodeo Grounds.

“A car traveling north across the centerline made contact with a pickup and trailer heading south,” said Travis Sutton, chief of the North Washington Volunteer Fire Department. “It locked the rear wheel of his truck and sent him on his side.”

Sutton said the driver of the truck pulled himself out, while the lone passenger was assisted out of the truck by a passerby. Neither was injured or required hospitalization. Crews used tools to keep the truck stabilized until tow trucks arrived to take it away.

“Once we got on scene, we put the stabilizing struts in to stabilize the vehicle,” Sutton said. The struts were removed when wrecker crews arrived.

The other vehicle sustained severe damage to its left front end, but the occupants of that car also were unhurt.

In addition to the North Washington Volunteer Fire Department, the Eau Claire Volunteer Fire Department and the East Butler Volunteer Ambulance Service responded to the scene.
