Forward Township residents who are heavily involved in the affairs of their neighborhood may need to update their calendars for the rest of the year.

The township’s board of supervisors voted during their meeting on Tuesday night, Sept. 10, to change the dates for board meetings from the second Tuesday of the month to the second Thursday of the month for the final three months of 2024, on a trial basis. Meeting times have also been moved up half an hour, from 7 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Work sessions, which were introduced earlier this year, have been moved to the first Thursday of the month at 4 p.m.

This means that the next three Forward Township board of supervisors meetings will be held on Oct. 10, Nov. 14, and Dec. 12. Work sessions will be held on Oct. 3, Nov. 7, and Dec. 5.

According to township manager Tom Hartwig, the change has been made to accommodate the schedules of both township supervisors and employees.

“It will enable our secretary/treasurer to resume attending to record minutes instead of me,” Hartwig said. “Supervisors preferred Thursdays due to their other commitments.”

Although the agenda for Tuesday’s meeting said that the township was making this change “on a trial basis,” Hartwig admitted that the change was “probably permanent.”
