Freeport Theatre Festival to debut comedy play

A family comedy show that will open at the Freeport Theatre Festival on Friday, Sept. 13, will highlight “The three Fs that hold us all together.”

“Over the River and Through the Woods” is described by the festival as a delightful family comedy by Joe DiPietro that tells the story of Nick Cristano living the life of a modern young professional in New York City. However, his loving grandparents, Frank Gianelli, Aida Gianelli, Emma Cristano and Nunzio Cristano, never let him forget that he belongs in Hoboken, N.J.

The production is co-directed by the duo of Marushka and Rennick Steele, and the show will run from Friday through Sept. 29, with performances at 7 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Tickets are $15 for general admission, $12 for seniors and military personnel and $10 for students. Visit freeporttheatrefestival.org or contact Marushka Steele at 724-295-1934 for ticket information.

The Freeport Theatre venue is on the Steele farmstead at 2498 White Cloud Road in Allegheny Township, Westmoreland County, two miles southeast of Freeport.
