Ronald Ira Watson, of Harmony, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2024, while under the care of The Grove of Harmony and Care Comfort Hospice.

He was born in Muddy Creek Township on May 10, 1937, and was the son of the late Howard Elmer Watson and Pearl Carolina (Schott) Watson.

Ron was married to his love, Donna Lee (Stanford) Watson, for 63 years, until her death in 2020. Ron was a member of North Street Christian Church in Butler, and a longtime attendee of First Christian Church of Ellwood City. He was a heavy equipment operator, mostly in the strip-mining industry. He also loved to camp and to travel.

He is survived by his three sons and their wives, Jeff and Naomi Watson of Evans City, Troy and Brenda Watson of Harmony, and Keith and Jeannine Watson of Evans City; and his grandchildren, Luke and Joni Watson of Bethel Park, Heidi and Adam Knauff of Harmony, Jessica and Joshua Sumpter of Waynesburg, Kaleb Watson and Nicole Milfried of Cranberry Township, Joshua and Jennifer Watson of Evans City, Isaac Watson of Wexford, and Alyssa and Zachery Hohman of Norfolk, Va. He was blessed with 19 great-grandchildren.

Ron is also survived by his siblings, Dorothy (Dot) and Fred Lombard of Daytona Beach, Edna and John Wilson of Ellwood City, Warren (Bill) and Ardell Watson of Butler, Delores (Dolly) and David Hooker of Ellwood City, and Linda and Edward Klink of Forestville. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Margaret Watson of New Castle, Connie Watson of Harmony, and Bille Popkoff of Redmond, Ore.; and his brothers-in law, Richard Brooks of Tucson, Ariz., and David Stanford of New Castle.

Along with his parents and his wife, Ron was preceded in death by his brothers, Kenneth Watson, Gerald Watson and Howard Watson Jr.; his sister, Shirley Brooks; and his sister-in-law, Joan Rogers.

WATSON — Friends and family of Ronald Ira Watson, who died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2024, will be received from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday at BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, 116 E. Main St., Evans City.

He will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Burial Estates in Butler.
