Butler County football roundup Week 4: Seneca Valley earns 1st win; Owen Bish scores in 3 phases in UAC victory

Seneca Valley’s football team picked up its first win of the season pouncing early and never looking back in a 26-6 win over Norwin.

Josiah Edwards returned a first-quarter fumble 74 yards for a Raiders touchdown that set the tone for the rest of the game. The majority of the damage after that was done via the ground game. Cayden Parker churned out 102 yards, including a 5-yard TD, on 21 carries, and Chase Mazanek ripped off a 50-yard score to finish with 11 totes for 87 stripes.

Max Eisenhut nailed two long field goals of 46 and 42 yards to wrap up the scoring for SV (1-2). Defensively, Brooks Beres led the way with six tackles (one for loss) and a sack.

The Raiders host Moon in Week 5.

Union/A-C Valley 33, Kane 14 — QB Owen Bish went from a dual-threat to a triple-threat Friday and carried the Falcon Knights (3-1, 3-1 District 9, Region 2) to a convincing win.

The senior threw for 120 yards on 11 of 20 passing and a 6-yard scoring toss to Aidan Fox. Bish also ran 15 times for 98 yards and a 2-yard touchdown. And he caught two passes from Trent Fleming for 56 yards, hauling in 17-yard score.

Defensively, Colbin Elliott had 12 tackles and an interception for UAC, and Max Gallagher, who also ran 13 times for 41 yards and a TD, had 11 tackles (one TFL).

Deer Lakes 28, Freeport 21 — The Yellowjackets (2-2, 0-1) rallied from as 21-0 deficit to knot the game at 21 before Deer Lakes (4-0) scored the deciding points on a 5-yard Zier Williams run late in the fourth quarter of this Allegheny 7 Conference opener.

Freeport tried answering in the closing moments, but Sean Selinger was stopped short on as fourth-and-1 from the Deer Lakes 31.

Drew Ross threw for 148 yards and a touchdown — a 13-yard toss to Madden Wisniewski — for Freeport.
