South Butler library hosts Building Your Future with Steel for young girls

The South Butler Community Library is hosting a program to give young girls a chance to enter the world of steel and manufacturing with the Building Your Future with Steel event Oct. 12.

The event is aimed at girls in grades eight through 12 and has a maximum capacity of 40.

The program begins with breakfast at 8:30 a.m., followed by a talk from motivational speaker Karin Lund and a session with female engineers from Cleveland-Cliffs and welders from CID Associates.

The event will celebrate Emily Warren Roebling, the daughter-in-law of borough founder John Roebling. She helped guide the Brooklyn Bridge project to its completion after her husband, Washington Roebling, fell ill.

Participants should register by Sept. 30. The form is available at https://forms.gle/XgH2QVXh1t72QVsL9.
