Last month, Forbes released its 2024 list of America’s Best Employers by State.

To create the list, 160,000 employees working for companies with a staff of at least 500 people were surveyed. Participants rated their employer on a scale of 0 to 10.

They also evaluated employers they’d worked for within the past two years as well as organizations they knew within their industry or through friends or family.

Ultimately, 1,294 organizations made Forbes’ list, 52 of which are headquartered in Pennsylvania.

Allegheny Health Network and Independence Health System made the list, as did American Eagle Outfitters (Pittsburgh), Boscov's (Reading), Dick's Sporting Goods (Coraopolis), Erie Insurance (Erie), The Hershey Company (Derry), Sheetz (Altoona) and Urban Outfitters (Philadelphia).

Pittsburgh-based U.S. Steel, Alcoa, PNC Financial Services and Carnegie Mellon University made the list, as did Philadelphia’s Drexel University, Thomas Jefferson University, The University of Pennsylvania and Villanova University.
