The first graduating class from the current Slippery Rock Area High School recently celebrated its 65th class reunion.

The reunion was held on Aug. 24 at Hoss’s Steak and Sea House in Grove City.

Betty Lou (Francis) Ivell said 21 classmates and 10 of their guests attended. She said another reunion is planned for next year.

Ivell said that up to their junior year, the students attended the Lab School, now the McKay Education Building, and West Hall, now the Drs. Paul and Carolyn Carruth Rizza Hall. Both buildings are now part of the Slippery Rock University campus.

Ivell and her classmates moved to the “new” high school in the fall of 1958.
