On the afternoon of Aug. 26, I broke my ankle when I passed out at the Clearview Giant Eagle after donating blood at the blood drive held at the VA.

I would like to thank everyone who helped me that day: the manager and employees at Giant Eagle, a nurse named Megan who just happened to be there at the time and was very helpful, and any bystanders who offered to help. Thank you also to the Butler Ambulance Service EMTs and the staff at Butler Memorial Hospital. A special thank you to Lauren, a nurse in the emergency room who was so caring and compassionate.

I would also like to thank the staff assigned to room 6216 in the Towers at the hospital for the excellent care I received. Although it will take a little while to fully recover, the care I received will long be remembered.
