Slippery Rock football drops rivalry matchup with Grove City

Grove City’s Jaxyn Wilson scored five times on the ground on Saturday afternoon, vaulting the Eagles past neighboring rival Slippery Rock 42-7 in a District 10 Region 4 matchup.

Following a scoreless first frame, Wilson punched the ball in twice — an 11-yarder and a 7-yarder — to give Grove City (3-1) a 14-0 lead in the second. Fred Campagna’s 8-yard touchdown pass to Cooper Glass cut the Eagles’ lead in half before halftime, but the Rockets (1-3) allowed 28 unanswered points in the final 24 minutes of play.

Clayton Martin’s third-quarter 25-yard touchdown reception from Lucas McCreadle was the Eagles’ lone passing score of the day.

Wilson finished with 158 yards rushing on 23 carries. Slippery Rock lost possession on a fumble three times in the matchup and was limited to 109 yards of total offense.

The Rockets return to action against Sharpsville on Friday.
