James Baney Jr.

James “Murph” E. Baney Jr., 83, of Harmony, passed away on Thursday morning, Sept. 12, 2024, at his residence after a short illness.

Born Nov. 6, 1940, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Laura B. Gallagher and James E. Baney Sr.

He was a member of St. Gregory Catholic Church-Divine Grace Parish, Zelienople.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Ferdinand.

Jim had worked for Marmon Keystone as a truck driver, retiring after 39 years of service. He also drove bus for the Seneca Valley School District.

Jim proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict.

He was a member of the Zelienople American Legion Post 474.

Jim was a die-hard fisherman, and he was a Master Captain.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Nancy Smith; one brother, Richard Baney; and one granddaughter.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Danner Baney; two daughters, Leslie (Gary) Owens of Sherman, N.Y., and Barbara (Bob) Buchanan of Harmony; two sons, James Baney III of Zelienople and Rich (Audrey) Baney of Butler; one sister, Kathy Puskar of Fla.; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
