Police: Harmony man’s death at Evans City Sportsman Club ruled accidental
The death of a Harmony man, who was found shot Wednesday, Sept. 11, at the Evans City Sportsman Club, has been ruled as accidental, state police said Tuesday.
James E. Ray Jr., 46, was found dead when state police arrived at the Jackson Township sportsman’s club at around 8:16 p.m. Sept. 11.
Trooper Bertha Cazy said Tuesday that Ray accidentally shot himself. Police said no one else was at fault.
According to Cazy, video surveillance and an examination by medical professionals were used to deem the incident an accident.
His obituary in Tuesday’s Butler Eagle noted Ray was an Army veteran, motorcyclist and outdoorsman.
