Police Reports

The following items were collected from various police departments.

State Police, Butler

Aug. 13 — Two people were charged in relation to a July 25 traffic stop on New Castle Road near Rural Drive in Butler Township. Kristy M. Cousins, 44, of Butler, was charged with felony DUI. Police said field sobriety tests showed Cousins was impaired, but she refused further testing. A passenger, Cassie R. Grossi, 45, of Butler, was charged with misdemeanor drug possession. Police said during a search of the vehicle they found loose pills in Grossi’s purse.

Aug. 13 — Kristopher M. Steighner, 43, of West Sunbury, was charged with misdemeanor DUI related to a July 27 traffic stop on Homewood Drive in Butler Township. Police said field sobriety tests showed Steighner was impaired, and a later breath test showed his blood alcohol content at .120%. In Pennsylvania, .08% is the legal limit.

Aug. 13 — Richard S. Widdowson, 35, of Evans City, was charged with misdemeanor DUI related to a July 11 disturbance on Brownsdale Road. Police said Widdowson had driven to the location, and field sobriety tests showed he was impaired. Police said a later breath test showed his blood alcohol content at .218%. In Pennsylvania, .08% is the legal limit.

Aug. 13 — Police charged three people with misdemeanor retail theft in relation to a Feb. 15 incident at Love’s in Worth Township. Those charged include Mandy M. Birchard, 42, Alexandra J. Lazor, 28, and Zebe Birchard, 20, all of Oil City. Police said the trio stole food, drink and other items with a total value of $257.

Aug. 12 — Richard A. Smith, 73, of Worthington, was charged with misdemeanor DUI related to a July 13 traffic stop on Route 422 East in Clearfield Township. Police said field sobriety tests showed Smith was impaired, and a later breath test showed his blood alcohol content at .122%. In Pennsylvania, .08% is the legal limit.

Aug. 12 — Kyle J. Pawlowicz, 23, of Chicora, was charged with misdemeanor theft related to an Aug. 1 investigation into a stolen road sign. Police said Pawlowicz stole the Love Road sign in Oakland Township.

Aug. 12 — Isaac J. Bigenho, 26, of Chicora, was charged with marijuana possession and drug paraphernalia possession in relation to a July 6 traffic stop on Route 422 East in Summit Township. Police said they stopped Bigenho for window tint, and later discovered marijuana and drug paraphernalia inside his vehicle.

6 p.m. Aug. 12 — Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Route 422 in Clearfield Township. Police said Joseph R. Stein, 59, of Butler, drove into the rear of a vehicle driven by Grant M. Johnston, 18, of Shelocta. Police said Shelocta had been stopped to make a left turn. Police said Stein was hospitalized with suspected serious injuries, but there were no injuries listed for Johnston. Police said both vehicles were towed from the scene. Police later cited Stein with a traffic violation.
