He had a strong work ethic, living a selfless life of service to his family, church and community. He was an avid reader and lifelong learner, and he could discuss in depth nearly any topic from history to theology to current events.

He is survived by his wife, the love of his life, Joan Eileen Mickley, whom he married on Aug. 29, 1957. They recently celebrated their 67th anniversary. His pride and joy was his loving and close family.
