Margaret E. Horton, 76, of Middlesex Township, Valencia, is now resting in the blessed arms of Jesus, her Lord and Savior. She passed away on Monday morning, Sept. 16, 2024, at Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk, N.Y.

Born in Waterfall, Pa., on April 30, 1948, she was the daughter of the late George and Janet Dixon Summers.

Margaret retired several years ago after working 37 years for St. Barnabas Health System, where she started in the accounting department and eventually became director of human resources and assistant vice president.

She was a longtime member of Glade Run Presbyterian Church. She and Gary enjoyed traveling, going on cruises, staying at all-inclusive resorts and spending many weekends at a lakeside cottage at Lake Erie.

Margaret enjoyed dancing, reading, golf and cooking for festive family occasions. She cherished time with her five grandsons. She also cherished time with her daughters, especially during “girl’s weekend” at the cottage the weekend before her death.

Surviving are her husband, Gary Goerk; her daughters, Kimberly Horton (Keith Filbert) of Cranberry Township and Beth Rothrock (Jim Hillard) of State College; her grandsons, Harris and Carter Horton, James and Robert Rothrock, and Jacob Hillard; and her brother, Jerry Summers (Lucille) in Delaware.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Gary Summers.

HORTON — Friends of Margaret E. Horton, who died Monday, Sept. 16, 2024, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at MCDONALD-AEBERLI FUNERAL HOME, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Glade Run Presbyterian Church, 1091 Pittsburgh Road, Valencia, PA 16059. Please meet at the church.

The family requests that memorials be made to the church.
