Russell “Russ” Auth, 71, of Prospect, passed away on Monday, Sept. 16, 2024.

He was born in Pittsburgh on Dec. 28, 1952, to the late Regis and Florence (Hoge) Auth.

Russ graduated from Bellevue High School in 1970 and then graduated from Slippery Rock State College in 1974 and later received his master’s degree from Slippery Rock. He was employed as a teacher for Slippery Rock Area School District for 35 years.

Russ had the kindest soul, and he loved his family. He was the sweetest husband and a wonderful father to his children and stepchildren, and beloved Papa to three grandsons. Russ enjoyed woodworking, reading, walking, long drives, antiquing and Pittsburgh sports, especially the Steelers. Go Steelers!

Russ was the beloved husband of Garnet (Yaklich) Auth since their marriage in 2002; father of Jordan (Deena) Auth, Stefanie (Ryan) Dorrance, Amanda (Bill) Zavidny and Daniel Yaklich; brother of Janet (Peter) Galinowski, Richard (Joanie) Auth and Virginia O’Hanlon; grandfather of William Isaac, Jeremy Blake and Samuel Ryan; brother-in-law of Louis Yaklich Jr. and Vince (Patty) Yaklich; son-in-law of Louis (Barbara) Yaklich; and uncle of Richard Galinowski and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Russ was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Mabel.

A special thank you to his angels on earth, Emily and Macenzie from Good Samaritan Hospice, who took wonderful care of Russell.

AUTH — Family and friends Russell “Russ” Auth, who died Monday, Sept. 16, 2024, will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 New Castle Road, Butler. A prayer service will immediately follow in the funeral home.
